Govt denies SAS on 'revenge missions' in Afghanistan

There are categorical denials from the Government that SAS troops are conducting raids or "revenge mission" killings in Afghanistan.Freelance journalist Jon Stephenson claims sources within the US-led coalition in Afghanistan and the New Zealand SAS community have told him SAS troops were going back to to Bamyan to take part in raids following the deaths of five of our soldiers earlier this year.A spokesman for Defence Minister Jonathan Coleman says it's totally untrue. There are a "handful" of SAS troops in Kabul, but our government is adamant they're not been sent to be involved in any on the ground activity.Photo: Getty Images
