BREAKING NEWS; 'Bin Laden dead long before US raid'. Osama Died of Disease.
Iran's intelligence minister says the country has reliable information that former head of the al-Qaeda terrorist group Osama bin Laden died of disease some time ago.
“We have accurate information that bin Laden died of illness some time ago,” Heidar Moslehi told reporters on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting on Sunday.
He questioned Washington's claim that bin Laden was killed by American troops in a hiding compound in Pakistan on May 1.
“If the US military and intelligence apparatus have really arrested or killed bin Laden, why don't they show him (his dead body) why have they thrown his corpse into the sea?” Moslehi asked.
“When we apprehended [former Jundallah ringleader Abdul Malik] Rigi, we showed him and also aired his interview,” ISNA quoted the intelligence chief as saying.
By releasing such false news, he said, the White House seeks to overshadow regional awakening.
Moslehi said US officials resort to such PR campaigns to divert attention from their domestic problems as well as their “fragile” economic situation.
US President Barack Obama claimed that Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces on May 1 in a hiding compound in Pakistan.
A US official later announced that bin Laden's body was abruptly buried at sea, falsely boasting that his hasty burial was in accordance with the Islamic law, requiring burial within 24 hours of death.
However, burial at sea is not an Islamic practice and Islam does not have a timeframe for burial.
US officials also claimed their decision for a sea burial was made because no country would accept bin Laden's remains, without elaborating on which countries were actually contacted on the matter.
Analysts, however, have raised serious questions as to why US officials did not allow for the application of a DNA test to officially confirm the identity of the corpse before its hasty burial.

Image by FightHIVinDC via FlickrWashington residents can now test for HIV when obtaining a drivers licence...Residents of the nation's capital can now get a driver's license and free HIV testing --both at the same time.
A Department of Motor Vehicles branch in southeast Washington is offering testing for the disease under a pilot program aimed at educating residents and reducing stigma.
"We realize that this is a nontraditional setting, but this program is about normalizing HIV and extending testing opportunities," said Angela Fulwood Wood, chief operations officer for nonprofit Family and Medical Counseling Service. "We chose the DMV because it offers a good cross-section of people."
The nonprofit chose this particular branch -- the Penn Branch -- because infection rates have gone up in the area, Wood said.
Penn Branch also has the most visitors and can accommodate confidential space to take the HIV test, local officials said.
Results of the free oral test are available in 20 minutes. Test takers will get $15 to go toward DMV costs, but Wood emphasizes that knowing one's status is the primary incentive.
"Our goal is to touch base with all the people who come into the DMV," Wood said. "We want to stress this project is about education as it is about testing."
Wood said those who opt not to find out their status at the DMV office will get information on other free sites to get tested.
Gilead Sciences, a California-based pharmaceutical company, provided a $250,000 grant to fund the program, according to Wood.
District officials have partnered with Family and Medical Counseling Service to provide the one-year pilot.
The nonprofit will offer testing and counseling, and help those who test positive get medical help through a provider of their choice, said Dr. Pierre Vigilance, director of the D.C. Department of Health.
More than 3 percent of adults and adolescents are living with HIV in the capital, among the highest rates in the nation, according to Vigilance. Nationally, the prevalence of the disease is 0.5 percent.
Officials were optimistic as the program kicked off Tuesday.
The first-day response was "excellent ... there has been a line waiting to get the HIV test," Vigilance said.
"Many people have to wait for some of the DMV services and the rapid HIV test takes only 20 minutes. It fits perfectly with the waiting times."

The latest from the newsroom is that those suffering with rheumatoid arthritis, itself a painful condition, appear to have a built-in protection against the effects of the mind-crippling alzheimers disease.
The memory loss associated with alzheimers could actually be reversed in many cases; scientists discovered that rheumatoid arthritis produced a chemical in the body that works on the condition.
Researchers found a protein triggered by rheumatoid arthritis could undo the 'tangles' in the brain that are believed to cause alzheimers disease.
Memory loss associated with alheimers disease was partially reversed by the protein GM-CSF, which also lowered the risk of getting the condition. Scientists at the University of South Florida even found in some cases the memory impairment was completely reversed after treatment.
The fantastic news is the protein known as 'Leukine' is commercially available. The treatment completely reversed cognitive impairment in only 20 days!
It has to be remembered that these tests were with mice; this has to be transfered to the field of human health.
The swollen joints of rheumatoid arhtritis sufferers produce the protein that stimulates scavenger cells in the body. In the tests on laboratory mice, the cells removed deposits left by alzheimers disease.
The study can be read in the 'Journal of Alzheimers Disease'.

Image via WikipediaI like human interest stories. This is an unusual revelation after forty years of the real cause of Elvis Presley's death in 1977. The King of Rock and Roll reportedly died of chronic constipation on his toilet at home in Graceland. It has been claimed for decades that heart failure was the cause of his death. That is true of course, because death comes when the heart stops beating.
Most of us who can remember the iconic Elvis singing and entertaining, can remember just how obese and ill-looking he became in the latter days. A far cry from the fit and healthy man of his younger years.
New revelations claim he refused the surgery which would have relieved him of his chronic constipation. Health professionals obviously didn't realise just how ill Elvis was. His constipation was so bad that a stool had been in his colon for four to five months due to the lack of bowel mobility. Surely this would have led to an infection in his bowels?
He would reportedly get embarrassed when having an accident on stage, and have to go off and change his clothes. It was caused by the method he was being treated for his constipation. Elvis reportedly suffered from an hereditary condition called "bowel paralysis" - a colostomy was vital because his colon was 4-5 inches in diameter instead of 2-3 inches - double the normal size.
Elvis was found dead sitting on his toilet. What a hell of a way for the King of Rock and Roll, and arguably one of the three greatest entertainers in history, to meet his demise. I was of that generation who regarded Elvis with awe and lamented his passing.
